    Sunday, March 15, 2015 And it came to pass that in the reign of Queen Swyer 1 over the Children of Ravensworth that great events seemed destined to always happen in the Kingdom when the young Ravens traveled out to the neighbouring city, known as the nation's capital, to do battle in Chess. It was the year of our Lord 2015 that after The Children did #shelldowntheplace (modern Ravens teach this is the preferred phrase to "Sweep" note elder Ravens the social media lingua - hashtag#) by placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the under 16 tournament the previous week, that the team returned to the neighbouring city to capture two more national titles.

    Thursday, February 13, 2014 Congrats are in order for Young Raven NM Alistair Walker twice in less than a week as he has earned a spot in the National Chess Championships that is to be played later this year. NM Walker ended the John Powell Open tournament in Mandeville over the weekend with a score of 3.5 points from 5 games. Congrats go out to NM Walker and we trust that the timing of the Nationals does not conflict with exams and that he is are able to play and get a shot at making the Olympiad team to represent Jamaica later this year.     Wednesday, February 5, 2014 I am pleased to announce that true to our strategic planning Chess has served up St. Jago’s first 270th anniversary gift with a remarkable permanent national twist. Alistair Walker is now officially NATIONAL MASTER Alistair Walker. NM Walker is now the only NM in High School and is the first high school student to achieve this title in many many years.

  • Alistair Walker wins Elite Unit of the St. Jago Chess Open tournament
    Sunday, July 14, 2013 Alistair Walker became the first St Jago Student to win the Elite Unit of the St. Jago Chess Open tournament. For the first time two St. Jago students qualified for this section by virtue of their strength. The two youngsters Alistair and team captain Roderick Clifford were up against four national masters, including National Champion and Candidate Fide Master Damion Davy. They were undaunted by the titles.

June 1st, 271 years ago, the idea of a free school for selected children of slaves to be trained as book keepers and tally men was born at a Tea Party for plantation owners island-wide at the Charlemont Estates Great House (former residence of Custos McGrath) near Ewarton. A year later in 1744, the dream became a reality on the grounds of Ravensworth.
